Spectrum Router Blinking Blue
Blue lights on a Spectrum router are usually not a bad sign — they typically mean booting, firmware update, or WPS pairing mode. Here's how to tell which and when to intervene.
What each blue pattern means
Slow blue blink (once per second) — router is booting or reconnecting to the internet. Wait 3–5 minutes. Fast blue blink (several per second) — WPS pairing mode. If you didn't press the WPS button, someone else did — check the physical router. Solid blue — connected and healthy on some Spectrum models; on others it means the LED indicator is disabled. Blue then red cycling — firmware update in progress. Do NOT unplug it. Interrupting a firmware update can brick the router.
When blue means trouble
If the router blinks blue for more than 10 minutes without moving to a solid or off state, something is stuck. Try a manual reboot: unplug, wait 60 seconds, plug back in. If it still gets stuck on blue after two reboots, the router needs replacement.
