Spectrum Streaming Outage

The Spectrum TV app streaming service breaks in one of three ways: the app can't authenticate, the video won't play, or the whole service is down. Each has a different fix.

Auth loop: 'Please sign in' or RGE-1001

The app lost your login state. Sign out (Settings → Sign Out), force-quit the app (swipe up from bottom, swipe the app card away), reopen, sign back in. If it happens repeatedly, your account password was changed recently or someone else logged in from a different device and bumped you.

Constant buffering or low-quality video

Streaming needs 5–8 Mbps per HD stream and 25+ Mbps for 4K. Run the speed test — if you're getting less than that on Wi-Fi, move closer to the router or switch to 5 GHz. If wired speeds are also low, the issue is your Spectrum internet connection, not the streaming service.

App won't load at all

Check the live outage map for streaming-tagged reports. If report volume just spiked, Spectrum's streaming backend is down — nothing to do but wait. If the map is quiet, delete and reinstall the app, then sign back in.

In-home vs. out-of-home streaming

The Spectrum TV app only streams the full channel lineup while your device is on your home Wi-Fi. Out of home, you get a smaller subset. This isn't an outage — it's a licensing constraint.

Why does the Spectrum TV app keep signing me out?

Usually a token expiration issue after a Spectrum backend deploy. Sign back in once and it should stick. If it happens daily, delete the app and reinstall.

Does the app work on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV?

Yes to all three, plus iOS, Android, Xbox, and Samsung smart TVs. Same account works across devices with a per-account concurrent stream cap.
