Spectrum Outage FAQ
Straight answers to the questions people ask most when Spectrum goes down.
The essentials
Most Spectrum outages are resolved within 2 hours. Node-level outages are usually same-day. Fiber cuts on a backbone can take 6–24 hours. Anything past 4 hours with no ETA is worth escalating in the app.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check if Spectrum is down?
Use the live map on the home page. If the last-30-minute count is climbing sharply in your area, it's a real outage.
How long do Spectrum outages last?
Median 2 hours. Most are resolved same day.
Do I get money back for an outage?
Yes, but you have to request it. Call 833-949-0036 with the outage window and reference the timeline on our home page.
Is my area affected?
Search your city, ZIP, or state on the home page for a filtered view.
Why is Spectrum's status page saying no outage?
Their public page only flags hard, network-side failures. Node and drop-cable outages often don't trip that alarm.
Can I switch ISPs during an outage?
Yes, but installations take days. Better to log a ticket, request a credit, and use a mobile hotspot until service returns.
